How to think about wrinkle relaxing — honestly

Botulinum toxin is one of the most studied medicines in modern aesthetics. Used well, it softens dynamic lines and prevents deeper etching over time. Used poorly, it freezes expression and creates the very 'done' look most patients say they want to avoid. The difference is almost always dose and placement.
When it makes sense
The best candidates are patients whose dynamic lines — those that appear on movement — are beginning to leave a resting trace, or who are prone to strong frowning, jaw tension or a gummy smile. The goal is a softer, rested version of the same face, not a smoother one.
When it doesn't
If your lines are static (visible at rest), toxin alone will not resolve them. The right protocol may involve bio-remodelling, polynucleotides or, occasionally, a small volume of filler placed conservatively. If you're anxious about looking different — you should be treated less, not talked into more.
The consultation matters more than the injection
A proper assessment reviews your medical history, facial anatomy, muscle strength and aesthetic goals. It should include an honest conversation about what treatment can — and cannot — do. If a clinician doesn't offer that conversation, that is the signal to leave.
